Partners With a Purpose
Overview
This pickleball event is designed for women 4.0 and 4.5 skill level players. It is focused on players working together as partners in a competitive environment to achieve success—earning those wins!
Eligibility
- Must be 50 years or older in the year of signup.
- Must have a 4.0 or 4.5+ PCVG or DUPR rating.
Start Time
Play starts at 12 noon. Warm-ups must take place prior to noon.
Participation & Registration
- Can accommodate 12 teams (24 players) per session. Selection will be on a first-come basis.
- No week after week commitment. Sign up for just one session, all sessions, or anything in between.
- You will sign up with a partner. Only one person from a team should sign up. Do not submit your registration until you have secured a partner. Also, you will need to supply your partner's email address and phone number, so have it available when registering.
- The same partners cannot partner together two consecutive weeks during the current six-week period.
- Registration for a session opens at 6AM two weeks prior to the play date.
Format
- The format is tournament style play with pools of teams.
- The format outlined below is subject to change based upon the number of participants.
- Teams will be seeded and placed into pools using tournament best practices.
- Every seventh week, the first-place pool champions from each pool will be invited to participate in the playoffs. If one of the first-place teams cannot participate or if the same team wins more than once within the current six-week period, the second-place team for that session will be invited. If you team up with a different partner in the future and your team earns first place in your pool, then your partner (if she wants to play in the playoffs) should find a partner from the pool of past 2nd place winners.
- First, second place, and third place teams will be recognized on the Pickleball 4 Us website. This information can be obtained from the Pool Champions webpage (coming soon).
- Scores will not be entered into the DUPR system.
Policies, Procedures & Guidelines
Withdrawals & Replacements
If your team needs to withdraw or if you need a replacement partner, immediately email Betty Sullentrup or call (636-346-5811). Failure of a team to notify of a withdrawal will result in a ban from future sessions.
If a player's partner cannot play, it is the player's responsibility to find a replacement. The replacement player must meet the eligibility criteria outlined above.
Late Arrivals & No Shows
If a team is absent at noon, their first game will be forfeited. If the team fails to show by the start of the second project phase, then their second game shall be forfeited as well. And so on for the remaining games.
Players who do not show up will be tracked as a No Show. A single No Show will result in not being able to participate during the current six-week period. More than one no show will result in automatic removal from all future participation.
Timeouts
Teams are allowed one, 1-minute timeout per game. Hydration stops are allowed as needed. A hydration stop is intended to be a time to take in fluids. It should not be used as a resting period or a prolonged timeout. Medical timeouts are allowed (10 minutes). If a player is unable to continue after their medical timeout, then any unfinished and unstarted activities are forfeited.
